The safety of your workplace becomes a primary focus as lockdown measures relax. International SOS can help you to make sure that the return is safe and sustainable. While no business can guarantee preventing the spread of infection, vital precautionary steps will minimise risks, fulfil your Duty of Care responsibilities and promote workforce resilience.
Whatever the circumstances, whether an office, a factory, a retail outlet or even an oil rig, preparation and real-time insights are a must to detect your threats, mitigate risks, and provide swift treatment if needed.
Our services take into account local governmental guidelines and an assessment of what is necessary for a particular workforce, both from a logistical perspective and personal one. Failure to manage a safe return could result in a backwards step in productivity, in the fight against COVID-19, and could even result in costly prosecutions.
The COVID-19 impact scales assess the current impact of the disease on (a) domestic operations, or (b) inbound travel. The respective scales take into account integrated health, security and logistics considerations – three key factors in business sustainability during the pandemic. The impact is dynamic and will change as outbreaks progress and mitigation measures are implemented and withdrawn.
The Domestic Operations Impact Scale for each location can be accessed via the above International SOS Risk Map. Instructions of how to embed the map on a website can be found here. Both scales, their detailed explanations, and our advice is exclusively available to International SOS clients and their people.
COVID-19 Domestic Operations Impact Scale - The COVID-19 domestic operations impact scale represents the impact of the disease to operating within a certain location1. This is in recognition that the advent of the pandemic has introduced a new variable to all operations – including both office and site-based work. The algorithm2 which defines the scale analyses the underlying health and security threat environment, the recent COVID-19 case activity as well as trends of new cases, local travel restrictions, mitigation measures in place, and the efficacy of mitigation measures.
COVID-19 Inbound Travel Impact Scale – represents the logistical impact of the disease in travelling to a certain location (i.e. inbound travel). The algorithm2 which defines the scale analyses the inbound travel restrictions such that locations with a higher score will have progressively more restrictive entry requirements.
The Inbound Travel Impact Scale for each location is only available to our clients and their people.
All data and intelligence informing the scales are governed by International SOS health and security experts with extensive experience in previous international outbreaks, including: Ebola, Zika virus, plague, SARS, bird flu, and the H1N1 2009 pandemic influenza. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, International SOS has provided 24/7 support to its 11,000 client organisations from more than 1,000 locations, saving and protecting the lives of thousands of workers around the world.
The impact scales for each location can be accessed via International SOS Workforce Resilience services. These include (but are not limited to): manager view, employee portal, Assistance App, and automated pre-travel/deployment advisory emails. Subscribing organisations can also seek accompanying expert consultation with International SOS health and security advisors. Who can support the review and development of business-critical plans/procedures, and an organisation’s crisis management team(s).
2International SOS experts will continue to evolve the algorithms defining the scales and our services, as the pandemic and mitigation measures change and/or improve. Any significant changes will be announced to International SOS clients, where enhanced understanding is deemed beneficial to combatting COVID-19.
