Supporting Business Continuity at Remote Sites in Russia Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic

Problem

A major mining company with remote sites in Far East Russia needed to ensure continuation of flawless sites’ operation and tighter health control measures to protect employees’ health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Solution

Since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown in Russia, our medical team worked at the sites, running weekly meetings with the client’s health and safety department to ensure implementation of the necessary measures. We assisted the organisation with supplementary preventative measures, including Russian COVID-19 related regulations analysis and screening of all shift employees in regional capitals before they travelled to their respective sites. Contractors arriving at the mines undertook comprehensive health screenings, and additional measures are put in place to further enhance this capability - such as specialist testing availability and improved laboratory settings.

Impact

The impact has been very positive as we were able ensure the client’s remote sites' operation continuity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, their people felt suitably reassured that their health and safety continues to be of the utmost importance.
